The real tragedy is that your act is just boring and old…

For those of you still reading this blog is been pretty clear that there has been a content draught for the last few months. Yet again – and it was entirely my fault. There are many reasons for this – for example, I did not realize how physically exhausting working  full-time again would be. But these are just exuses. I dropped the ball – yet again.

So, yet again, I’m going to try and pick up the pieces. My goal is to have at least one item up here every weekday – even if it’s just a small submitted without comment or linkblogging piece. The aim is to start small and move on from there.

As always we will see where it goes.

Gone so soon?

photo-37I was doing so well with my return to blogging only to undo it all  by going out of the country.

Posting will resume next, next Tuesday.

Who watches etc. etc…

I have been remiss in not posting this.

Next Friday we’ll be starting up our second discussion seminar which I think should run until the ides of March. The seminar will be on Watchmen (both the graphic novel and the movie). There’s a lot to talk about but (as per Tito) I’d like to focus on the politics and political themes of the work. I’m sure – considering 300 – that the Watchmen movie may have a very different political tone than Moore’s graphic novel.

Again, all Blurred Productions contributors are invited to particpate and we’d welcome any other bloggers to as well. Just comment here and we’ll link over to you.

Return of the something-something…

Ok. I’m back from my usual early winter posting hiatus. Regular posting should resume tomorrow morning. Hope you didn’t miss me too much.

I really appreciate Dr. Brown and good old Psycholarry keeping things going where while I’ve been goofying off.

Sorry – once again – for my laziness.

Service interuption…

Just to note. I don’t think you’ll be seeing much from us until at least the week after New Years.

Now that I’ve posted this, I’m sure a ton of content will be forcoming.

Hope you all kick off 2009 in style.

If it wasn’t for disappointment I wouldn’t have any appointments…

For the record, I am going to extend our “Dark Knight” discussion seminar experiment to the end of the month.

Invite all of our contributors to keep posting their thoughts. I’ll have a few more up by early next week.

Let’s give this a try…

Following up on this. I think we are going to go ahead and try start doing “discussion seminars” here at Blurred Productions.

Here’s how it will work. We’ll set a topic (generally dealing with some form of entertainment & pop-culture) and then each member of the Blurred Productions community will contribute a post on that seminar’s topic over a period of a few days. Each seminar will start with a “topic post” (like this one) that lists the topic and dates for the seminar.  At the end of the seminar I’ll put up a “gateway” post that links to everybody’s contributions.

I’m also going to throw it open to any of readers who also have blogs (are there any of those out there?). If you wish to contribute just write a post on your blog and then comment on each seminar’s topic post and I’ll make sure you get linked in the final “gateway” post.

The first few seminars will focus on “books vs. movies”, if those prove successful we’ll see where we go from there.

Our first seminar will be on themes of  Dark Knight and the Killing Joke (especially those of the nature of law, order, justice, sanity, and human nature). To participate one must at least watch the Dark Knight (available here and at retail stores starting tomorrow) and read the Killing Joke (available in this collection and other places). Contributors are welcome to bring other Batman stories into the discussion but must talk about the Killing Joke and Dark Knight.

Our “Dark Knight Seminar” will run from this Friday (December 12th) to this Sunday (December 15).

Questions, comments, discussion , etc. are welcome. Just comment on this post.

I hate Mulligan because we’ve been doing this for at least two years.

Today is October 11th. Hence we have been hating on a man – some call him “Mulligan”, others “schmuck” – for over two years.

This is the man:
mulligan

Such a douche, eh?

This “two years” not not include the years we were hating him in other locations.

So – ladies and gentlemen – why don’t you take some time out of your day to hate on the man. You know you want to.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention there are already 234 reasons to hate him.

A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do…

Tomorrow a good majority (myself, Psycholarry, The Kaiser, and Doctor Brown) of the staff of Blurred Productions will be heading out to our annual sojourn to the Charm City for the 9th Annual Baltimore Comic-Con. This is my 6th Baltimore trip, which makes me feel vaguely old… but that’s really not possible considering I’m not really old.

Here is the guest list. Considering that both Jim Lee and Brian Bendis (and Geoff Johns too!) will be there this could easily be the largest Baltimore yet! Which could be a good or a bad thing. There was a lot of growth last year but that wasn’t completely for the best. But I have my hopes that the organizers know what they are getting into this time.

There isn’t an official schedule of panels on the website yet, so I don’t know exactly what’ll be coming out of this convention. I did hear something about some sort of debate (?) between Bendis and Robert Kirkman? About the future of comics? I’m sure it be stupid. But it is the sort of stupidity one must see for themselves.

So, since we’ll all be away from home there will be little blogging from us until Sunday night or Monday at the earliest. So, sadly (if you care) there will be no debate coverage from us. If there is a debate tonight.

Anyway, I’ll be live blogging from the floor of the con on my Twitter account. (Hopefully, that will not annoy any of my fellow Twitters)

So, internets. Are there any of you out there who are heading out to Baltimore tomorrow? If so, I hope to see you there!

UPDATE: The Beat has the convention schedule. Here’s the blurb about the Bendis/Kirkman panel:

2:45pm-3:45pm
Kirkman vs. Bendis: The Future of Comics
Oa room (upstairs, room 307)
What began as an open letter on the future of comics has turned into one of the hottest topics to hit the industry in decades. Now, the two main opposing forces in the discussion get together as Robert Kirkman and Brian Michael Bendis come face to face in a no-holds-barred debate! Don’t miss out on what promises to be the most talked about panel of the year!

All Crossing the Line columns have now been updated with trailers or short clips to give the reader a better sense of the film. This will be a continuing feature. Also, over the next week or two, a short summary of the plot will be added to each. If I can convince her to put in the work, Screaming Girl will also be adding a rating on her own personal Mind-Fuckability scale for each movie we watch. Hooray innovation!
